3rdYear running as the most-booked workout

Every few years a fitness format has a moment. Pilates is having something different: a compounding run. For the third consecutive year it was the most-booked workout in the world on ClassPass, with bookings up 66 percent year over year and more than 15 million reservations in 2025 alone. Searches for Pilates passed 27 million globally. This is not a spike. It is a curve.

The demand is real

Fitness reservations overall rose about 36 percent last year, and the fastest-growing formats around Pilates tell the same story: low-impact training up more than 100 percent, recovery formats up more than 150 percent. The market is rotating toward exactly what a reformer studio sells: precision, low impact, longevity. Combined Pilates and yoga studio revenue worldwide is estimated in the range of 180 to 200 billion dollars, with North America carrying more than half of it.

The supply caught up

Studio counts have risen roughly 30 percent worldwide over five years. In dense markets, a new reformer studio is no longer a novelty; it is an expectation. That matters because of what happened next in the US data.

The number nobody puts in a headline

Projections for the US in 2026 show studio counts still inching up while total industry revenue is roughly flat. Read those two numbers together: more rooms are splitting a wallet that is growing slower than the room count. Demand is booming AND the average studio's share is thinning, at the same time. Both are true.

The boom guarantees clients exist. It does not guarantee they walk into your room.

What this means if you are opening

Flat average revenue across a growing studio count is not a warning against opening. It is a warning against opening an average studio. The wallet is consolidating toward studios that are distinct enough to be described: the most precise teaching in the neighborhood, the most beautiful room, the format nobody else runs. In a market where every corner has reformers, the studios that compound are the ones clients photograph, talk about, and refuse to swap out of.

The report in brief
  1. Pilates is the most-booked workout in the world, three years running, and still growing at 66 percent.
  2. Studio supply followed the demand: up roughly 30 percent in five years.
  3. US revenue per studio is flattening. The boom rewards distinct studios and starves average ones.
  4. Differentiation is now the business plan, not the branding exercise.
