How to Care for Your Oshun Studios Pilates Equipment

Preserve the Beauty. Protect the Performance. Elevate Every Session.

Complete guide to keeping your reformer in peak condition for years to come.

Your Oshun Studios reformer isn’t just a piece of fitness equipment. It’s a handcrafted investment in your practice, your studio, and your brand. Designed with premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship, it deserves the same care and attention you bring to your own teaching.

1. Perform Regular Hardware Checks

A reformer performs best when every detail is secure.

  • Inspect nuts, bolts, and fasteners at least once a month. Tighten if needed using the appropriate tools.

  • Make sure all push pins and feet are locked firmly in place.

  • For studio environments, set a recurring maintenance reminder so nothing gets overlooked.

2. Care for the Upholstery Like Fine Leather

Our premium upholstery is designed to last, but it needs gentle care.

  • After every session, wipe with a damp microfiber cloth.

  • For a deeper clean, use a mild, non-abrasive solution (avoid alcohol, bleach, and silicone-based products).

  • A drop of eucalyptus oil in water works beautifully for a fresh, clean scent.

  • Protect your reformer from sharp objects, harsh cleaners, and excessive moisture.

  • Rotate hand and foot loops regularly, and wash on a gentle cycle in a delicates bag.

3. Keep the Frame and Track Immaculate

Dust, grit, and hair can quietly affect performance over time.

  • Wipe down frames, footbars, headrests, and shoulder rests with a soft cloth.

  • Clean carriage tracks and wheels weekly to maintain a smooth glide. Disconnect springs, wipe the full track with mild soapy water, and dry thoroughly.

  • Remove debris from wheel housings to prevent uneven movement.

4. Maintain Wheels for a Smooth Ride

  • Clear away hair or dust from wheel housings.

  • If you detect “wheel play,” tighten the axles immediately.

  • Avoid lubricants directly on the track; this can cause buildup.

  • Apply light machine oil only to metal-on-metal parts, hinge points, and plunger pins. Wipe away excess.

5. Inspect Springs and Ropes for Safety

Springs and ropes are the heart of your reformer’s resistance and stability.

  • Inspect springs for wear, kinks, rust, or gaps. Replace immediately if damaged.

  • Rotate spring usage to extend their lifespan.

  • Check ropes for fraying or loose adjustment systems. Apply thread glue to pulley eyelets if they loosen.

  • Oshun Studios recommends spring replacement every 2–3 years depending on use.

6. Protect Your Investment Between Sessions

  • Keep your reformer indoors, away from moisture and direct sunlight.

  • Avoid eating or drinking on the equipment.

  • Use a towel or cover during sessions to protect upholstery from sweat, lotions, or tanning products.

  • When not in use, leave one spring attached to secure the carriage without stressing all springs.

7. Schedule Deep Maintenance Every Few Months

  • Remove the carriage from the base to tighten wheel nuts and inspect alignment.

  • Fully clean and disinfect all touchpoints.

  • Check every moving part for smoothness. If anything sticks, squeaks, or drags, clean and lubricate as needed.

The Oshun Studios Standard

Every Oshun Studios reformer is built for decades of service, but like any finely crafted instrument, its longevity depends on how you care for it. With consistent cleaning, routine inspections, and mindful use, you’ll preserve both the beauty and performance of your machine.

Your equipment is not just a tool.
It’s an extension of your studio’s identity, your teaching, and your brand.
